Belay Weekend - Sun Apr 2

Second day of the belay weekend and we were back to Rattlesnake Rocks. Today's focus was on body belaying and practising the skills learned from previous day.

Most people were back for another day and ready to "fall", belay and lower fellow students. All belay exercises on both days were done from both top and bottom of the cliff. Bowlines, girth hitches and figure eights were seen wherever you go.

Students ready for another day of belaying. Instructors, however make sure all community gear like ropes, slings and carabiners are carried by the students.
Tom is demonstrating the concept of body belaying to Scott. Jeremy however is bewildered, not quite sure what to make out of this.
When setting up an anchor, make sure you use two carabiners, opening in opposite directions. Tom make sure we get this.
Fellow student relaxing after his climb. Waiting to get lowered down. Hopefully the belayer didn't fall asleep.
Maureen is body belaying from the bottom with Tom as backup.
Scott is being lowered down from the top. He is very relaxed and wondering about his dinner plans.
This time Jeremy is body belaying from the top, with Max as backup.
There is a reason it's recommended to be anchored while belaying as Tracie found out, hanging in the air while trying to catch a fall.
Shout "rope" before throwing down the rope. However it might be a good idea to also look where you throw it, so it won't get stuck in a tree.
Pete and Sue making sure all club gear is back at the end of the day.
